·       Next Board Meeting will be: Thursday, June 4th at 7pm at the EPIC office (2433 Bloomington Avenue) or virtually via Zoom (TBD)
o   Board Meetings are open to the public
·       Next Community Meeting will be: Thursday, June 11th at 6:30 at East Phillips Park or virtually via Zoom (TBD)
·       Next Executive Committee meeting is Thursday, May 21st from 7-8pm at the EPIC office or via Zoom (TBD)
o   Executive Committee meetings are the third Thursday of every month
o   Executive Committee meetings are open to the public
·      If you smell a foul odor around Smith foundry or Bituminous Roadways call 311 to report
o   Write down your incident number
·      EPIC has a new housing program! 0% interest! Fix up your home or buy a new home in East Phillips – Check your email for the brochure or go to: mncee.org/eastphillips
·      The EPIC garden is open!
o   Garden has new rules regarding COVID 19
o   Some plots are still available
o   1st weekend in June is deadline for any plots that have not been worked will be open for others to take
6:41       Report from Karen Clark on effort from hearing on legislation Rep. Hodan Hassan introduced
·      House File 4594
·      Victory in the fact that we had a hearing – we finally got a hearing - 4 years of work!
·      Great testimony
·      Hopeful to get this bill into the legislative negotiations
·      Goal is to get the Governor and Lt. Governor to get this bill into the legislative negotiations
·      Call and thank Hodan Hassan and Jeff Hayden
7:10     Crime and Safety - Kali Pliego
·      High focus on 17th and 18th Ave between 28th Street and Lake Street
·      The best scenario for arresting a person doing drugs or other illegal activities is the police getting a good description of the person, the person having a warrant and when the police arrive that person is still there 
§  This is so it will go through the court without issues, especially with COVID-19 concerns
·      Sabo encampment off of Hiawatha and 28th Street
§  Encampment is not in East Phillips, but traffic from encampment likely go through East Phillips
§  Showers are set up with a capacity of over 60 people a day
·         Metro Urban Indian Director Meetings have been focused on helping unsheltered homeless population

7:44     What needs are you facing during this time?
·           What organizations in our community can assist with these needs?
o   How can EPIC partner with these organizations that are providing important services during this time?
·           Rise in crime during the summer is a huge issue

7:53     How to get more people at virtual community meetings?
·         Provide more instructions in email that goes out – don’t need to download anything, can use your phone etc.
·         Can Amy edit Karen Clark’s portion of the meeting to post on our website?

·       2020/21 budget including previously allocated 2017-2019 and new 2020 program guidelines
o   This is unspent money from the past
·       Updates on hiring
o    Carol will finish putting together job description
o    update on how to do payroll:
§  see what EPIC’s accountant would charge and compare it to what ADP would charge
§  Carol will check with our accountant to see what her rates are
o    Reviewed Mary’s info on exempt vs non-exempt
§  Only need to pay attention to Mn state law because it is more strict than federal law
§  Any position that we would have would be exempt from paying overtime

·       We have 10 days to get the legislation passed – please call the governor to urge him to sign it when it comes to his desk!
·       Governor needs to say that he will sign it when it comes to his desk
8:25       Discussed whether to allocate NRP or CPP funds to be placed into the Neighborhoods Respond to COVID-19 Fund sent by out by Rubedor
